GIST OF THE TEMPLE

Initially, at the behest of a group of devotees in Delhi, who formed a Society in the name of Arsha Dharma Parishad, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), in the year 1975, allotted a plot of land in Janakpuri for construction of a temple. However, the temple could not be constructed at the allotted site in Janakpuri due to astrological reasons. Subsequently, thanks to the initiatives of the devotees in Mayur Vihar Phase-1, under the name of Sree Krishna Mandir Samajam, the allotment of land was transferred to Mayur Vihar Phase-1.

It was as if the Lord Himself had decided that He wanted this temple at a site overlooking the banks of Yamuna. This is one of the few Vishnu temples where the idol faces the West, in a bid to look towards Yamuna, instead of the traditional temple science of facing the East.

The Balalaya was consecrated on 8th April, 1983 by Prof. Vezhaparambu Parameshwaran Namboodiripad, with the Divya Vigraham of Lord Guruvayurappan brought from Kerala. The foundation stone for the Garbha Griham was laid by Kanchi Kamakoti Peedatheeswar His Holiness Jagadguru Jayendra Saraswathi Sankaracharya Swamigal on 2nd October, 1986. The Divya Vigraham of Lord Guruvayurappan was consecrated in the new temple on 17th May, 1989 with Kumbhabhishekam.

The principal deity is Sree Guruvayurappan (Lord Vishnu). Chottanikkara Bhagawathy (Devi), Lord Siva, Lord Ganapathy, Lord Ayyappa and Naga Devata are the other deities whose presence enhance the divine aura of this temple. The Thantric rights are vested with the Puliyannur Illam, in Trippunithara, Ernakulam.

The year 2014 was the Silver Jubilee Year of the temple, inaugurated by Poojya Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on 31st August, 2014. To commemorate this occasion, the gold covered Kodimaram (Dhwaja Sthambham) was dedicated to the Lord, with consecration performed by Thantri Brahmasri Puliyannur Sasi Namboodiripad on 30th May, 2014. The Temple is managed by Arsha Dharma Parishad (Regd), registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.

ദില്ലിയിലെ ഭക്തഗണം ആർഷ ധർമ്മ പരിഷദ് എന്ന സൊസൈറ്റി സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. 1975-ൽ ഡൽഹി ഡവലപ്‌മെന്റ് അതോറിറ്റി (ഡി.ഡി.എ.) ജനകപുരിയിൽ ക്ഷേത്ര നിർമ്മാണത്തിനായി ഒരു ഭൂഖണ്ഡം അനുവദിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ ജ്യോതിശ്ശാസ്ത്ര കാരണങ്ങളാൽ ആ സ്ഥലത്ത് ക്ഷേത്രം പണിയാൻ സാധിച്ചില്ല. ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണ മന്ദിർ സമാജം എന്ന പേരിൽ മയൂർ വിഹാർ ഫേസ്-1 ലെ ഭക്തരുടെ ശ്രമഫലമായി ഭൂമി ഈ പ്രദേശത്തേക്ക് കൈമാറ്റം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടു.

ഭഗവാൻ തന്നെ ഈ സ്ഥലം തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതായി ദൈവ സങ്കൽപ്പം വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നു. യമുനാ നദിയുടെ തീരം അഭിമുഖമായ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ, പരമ്പരാഗത കിഴക്ക് ദർശനത്തിന് പകരം ഭഗവൽ വിഗ്രഹം യമുനയെ നോക്കി പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ദർശനത്തിലാണ്.

1983 ഏപ്രിൽ 8-ന് പ്രൊഫ. വേഴാപ്പറമ്പ് പരമേശ്വരൻ നമ്പൂതിരിപ്പാട് ബാലലായ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നടത്തി. 1986 ഒക്ടോബർ 2-ന് കാഞ്ചി കാമകോടി പീഠാധീശ്വരൻ ജഗദ്ഗുരു ജയേന്ദ്ര സരസ്വതി ശങ്കരാചാര്യ സ്വാമിഗൾ ഗർഭഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ തറക്കല്ലിട്ടു. 1989 മേയ് 17-ന് കുംഭാഭിഷേകത്തോടെ ദിവ്യ വിഗ്രഹ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ പൂർണ്ണമായി.

പ്രധാന ദേവൻ ശ്രീ ഗുരുവായൂരപ്പൻ (ഭഗവാൻ വിഷ്ണു) ആണ്. ചോറ്റാനിക്കര ഭഗവതി, ഭഗവാൻ ശിവൻ, ഭഗവാൻ ഗണപതി, ഭഗവാൻ അയ്യപ്പൻ, നാഗ ദേവത എന്നിവർ മറ്റ് ദേവതകളാണ്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ താന്ത്രിക അവകാശങ്ങൾ എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയിലെ തൃപ്പൂണിത്തുറയിലെ പുലിയന്നൂർ ഇല്ലത്തിൽ നിക്ഷിപ്തമാണ്.

2014 ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ രജത ജൂബിലി വർഷമായിരുന്നു. 2014 ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 31-ന് പൂജ്യ ഗുരുദേവ് ശ്രീ ശ്രീ രവിശങ്കർ ആഘോഷങ്ങൾ ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. ഭഗവൽ ഭക്തരുടെ പിന്തുണയോടെ സ്വർണ്ണ ആവരണം ചെയ്ത കൊടിമരം ഭഗവദ് ചരണങ്ങളിൽ സമർപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. ഥന്ത്രി ബ്രഹ്മശ്രീ പുലിയന്നൂർ ശശി നമ്പൂതിരിപ്പാടിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ 2014 മേയ് 30-ന് ഈ ചടങ്ങ് നടന്നു. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ആർഷ ധർമ്മ പരിഷദ് (രജി.) ആണ് ഭരിക്കുന്നത്.

1 YEAR OF THE AUSPICIOUS KODI ARCHANA

On 6th October 2025, we commenced the sacred Vishnu Sahasranama Kodi Archana Yajna, a journey of twenty-seven continuous days of prayer, devotion, tireless effort and countless hearts coming together as one. What began as a humble resolve grew into a living offering, carried forward by the chanting of thousands of devotees, the quiet service of volunteers, and the steady faith of a community united in purpose. Every moment, every helping hand and every heartfelt prayer helped make those days truly unforgettable. From the early morning preparations to the final offerings, the Yajna was shaped not by any one person, but by the love and dedication of everyone who stood together in service. As we reflect on this blessed journey, our hearts are full of gratitude for each devotee, volunteer and well-wisher who gave their time, energy and devotion. To honour these memories, we are sharing a special video that relives those sacred days, filled with moments of worship, expressions of gratitude and the beautiful faces behind this divine undertaking. May the blessings of Lord Vishnu continue to guide us all, and may the spirit of this Yajna remain with us always.
